Craig Harvey Memorial Handicap Event
Saturday 31st May 2008
This event was set up last year in the memory of
Craig Harvey who passed away aged 22 years in June 2006. Craig had cystic
fibrosis and the monies raised last year, some £75 in total, were donated to the ward
who looked after Craig in his last few weeks by Craig's mum Sue who attended the
event.
This year the event took place on
Saturday 31st May with an increase of players to 20. The total raised was £100
(thanks Kev Green for your generous additional donation).
The perpetual trophy is inscribed with Craig's
name and includes a small photo and will be displayed on the trophy shelf for
those of you who may be interested (engraving kindly supplied by Lee Crooks).
The semi-finals were contended by 4 Yorkshire
league players. The losing semi-finalists were Lee Morris and Craig Ray and when
you consider the quality of these two guys then you begin to understand the
quality in the whole event this year.
The final was fought between Paul Reeves and
John Prime with John taking the match 2-1. Well done John.
My favorite quote from the day:
"I am fed up of seeing this cushion"
John Prime having to take consecutive shots from the bottom
cushion courtesy of Reeves's polished safety play.
Special thanks go to Angie for coming in at
short notice to help me all day.
